Today, I’m headed for Louisiana to see my 91 year old mother. She was a great money manager. She kept accurate records and her check book was a work of art. But, when I was a teenager my parents returned to their college town to start a business. The business failed within three years and they began the process of putting their financial lives back together. During that time I learned how to work. My first job was as a baby-sitter for 6 yr old boy named Danny. His dad was the president of Henderson State University and his mom was kept busy with college functions. I learned from Mrs. Garrison that I was a person of worth and it was not based on my families net worth. I carry that important lesson with me.
More than Money
